QPR's Redknapp to raid former club Spurs for another Defoe reunion
Redknapp, 66, wants to bring the England striker to Loftus Road in a move which will see him working with Defoe at a fourth different club. The pair first worked together at West Ham, and reunited at Portsmouth before Redknapp took Defoe back to Spurs for a second spell after taking over at White Hart Lane in 2008.
Redknapp’s predecessor at QPR, Mark Hughes, also has Defoe on his radar, and wants to take the striker to Stoke to reunite him with former Portsmouth and Tottenham strike partner Peter Crouch – so it would appear a reunion in some form is definitely in Defoe’s immediate future.
Redknapp admitted that he wants to forge a team that will set the Championship alight next season following QPR’s relegation from the Premier League. He said: “I am going to put together a team that will excite people.
“I am trying to bring players in who will blow people’s minds. I have got the backing of the board to do that, and we are moving on from last season.”
