Arsenal legend urges Luis Suarez to remain at Liverpool for at least one more season
Arsenal legend Ian Wright has given a very realistic interview today to BBC Sport regarding his club’s pursuit of Luis Suarez. While Wright stops short of speculating whether Arsenal will be successful in their chase, he did have advice for both parties on the matter.
Arsenal’s one time record goal scorer shared he was delighted that the club were linked to the Uruguayan striker and said, ‘I’d welcome him at Arsenal with open arms.’
However, he did quickly add that if he was one of the many people advising Suarez on the move then he wouldn’t recommend joining the Gunners. Wright shared, ‘If I was Suarez, when you look at everything, it does seem strange he would want to go to Arsenal. I would give Liverpool another season.’
The outspoken striker shared the opinion of the majority of the Arsenal fans that it was about time the Gunners went after top class talent. Wright added, ‘Arsenal finally realise they’ve got to get up there with the big boys otherwise they will be left behind.’
Wright in fact questioned Arsene Wenger’s wisdom in not spending more money this summer and declared that the Gunners need to do a lot more than just bring in one new player of Suarez’s quality.
